Walking & Cycling The John Muir Way

Not to be confused with the the John Muir Trail in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California. This is one of Scotland's most popular long-distance routes covering some of the most stunning scenery Scotland has to offer Starting in Helensburgh to Dunbar, the place of birth for John Muir.

The new official route which was opened in 2014 and covering 134 miles with most walkers taking in the scenery over 10 to 11 days and cyclists allow four to five days.

What makes this route slightly different, is that there are two routes: The official John Muir Way route for walkers and another for cyclists. Some sections are the same for both. Thankfully the route is way marked to better suit people on foot or on bikes. Why not have a read of our blogs that tell you some valuable information of what to expect along the The John Muir.
