Walk or cycle the John Muir Way

Scotland's John Muir Way is not to be confused with the the John Muir Trail in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California. The Scottish John Muir Way was opened in 2014. The 134-mile route, from the west coast to the east coast, pays homage to the famous American conservationist John Muir, who was actually born in Scotland. The route traverses the country from Helensburgh to Dunbar, which is Muir's birthplace.

What makes this route slightly different to other great Scottish trails is there is an official John Muir Way for walkers and another for cyclists. Some sections are the same for both, while at different points walkers and cyclists are separated.
